The Obligatory Aviation Pilgrimage

This morning we went on our tour of the Boeing Factory.
This was a package we pre-bought before leaving home, and included pick-up and drop-off at our hotel.

You know that guy who drives the school bus in The Simpsons? Well, imagine if his dad drives a tour bus in Seattle. That's the guy we got. Hilarious!

Told us all sorts of things about his town. For example, the ORIGINAL Starbucks is in Seattle. Actually, it's at Pike Place Market, just where we are staying. I'll get a photo before I leave town.

Also, we all know that Microsloth is based there, but who knew that Amazon was as well? Not I.

Anyway, we make it to the factory. Quite big, really. The largest building in the world. We already knew that, because we have been to the second-largest building in the world. The Venetian Casino in Macau.

Parked outside the factory is the aircraft in the video below.
Interesting story. As one or two of you may know, the 787 is made of a high-tech composite plastic. As a result, they can pressurise the vehicle higher than the traditional aluminium tube version, leading to a more comfortable ride for the passengers. Apparently, it feels like they are flying at a lower altitude, so are more refreshed on arrival.

Obviously, they needed to test how much the new plastic plane could be pressurised. Who knew it would stretch like a balloon animal?
