In Seattle

OK folks, we have arrived.

We flew AKLLAX on QF, and landed at Tom Bradley terminal. Actually, it is rather good. Last time we arrived on NZ and came through the fallopian tube that is Terminal 2. See far, far below for that thrilling excursion.
The time before that, our first trip to Amrika, was also QF, and was also Tom Bradley.
It seems better now. They are making massive extensions on the back, and I think they designed the new roof to be a little reminiscent of the Sydney Opera House, perhaps as homage to Qantas.

As some may remember, the customs hall in Tom Bradley is very very very long. I don't know how many booths, but it's probably 3 times the length of our new check-in hall in CHC. Huuuge.
To be expected, there are only a handful of customs officers to handle multiple arrivals, so the queue gets interesting. Not as bad as Terminal 2, though.

After all that is done, we pick up the bags, and look for the Virgin Amrika terminal. As it happens, it's terminal 3, just next door. Cool.

Check-in is simple, they only have about one departure an hour at this time of the day. No free baggage allowance, so fifty bucks later, thanks. Very friendly staff.
Boarding gate area small but efficient. A big circle, with airbridges shooting off all the way around.

The aircraft is a scarebus A319, a slightly dumpier version of ours.
They have two rows of first class, partitioned off, and we all walk through it.
The partitioning is interesting, and could work well for our A320s.
There is a very short wall, maybe a foot off the ground. Above that is a blue perspex screen up to under the lockers. It goes all the way across in front of row 1, and then has a short return for structural integrity and rigidity. This is repeated behind row 2, and before cattle class.

See what I mean?
Would be very light, and give row 1 the separation required from the door.
All Virgin staff are actually very friendly and helpful.
Nice change.
