We were originally going to LAX via Sydney, but now it's via AKL.
Sarah. Need I say more?

Anyway, we stayed last night in the new Novotel Hotel in the airport carpark.
Seriously, it's that close. Step outside the International Terminal opposite the Fright Centre shop, give way to a taxi, and you are entering the hotel lobby. Excellent.

This hotel is new. Opened just a couple of weeks ago. It's so new that our soap was still wrapped!

Nice hotel, actually. Small rooms, but intelligently laid out.
One strange thing, though. Between the shower and the bed is a glass wall. On the bedroom side, is a frosted glass slider right up against the clear glass. Next to the bathroom light switch is another switch to unlock the slider. Then you can slide the frosted glass panel away, so that you can watch tv or look out the window while in the shower. 'Nuf said.

Anyway, got checked in, and we are now in the lounge, waiting for boarding. Must go. I see food.
