Thoughts on Boston

I've said it before. We loved Boston.

This place has it all.
Did I mention the Boston Tea Party?
Did I mention Denny Crane?
Did I mention Harvard?
Did I mention MIT?

So much more. So little time.

Didn't get down to Cape Cod and the whole Kennedy Central area of Martha's vineyard etc. Sarah was a bit pissed that it didn't happen, but is thinking of spending another week sometime focused down there.

As much as Boston is focused on tourism, there seems to be nothing to handle daytrips to those places. A bit far away, I guess. Maybe you need to spend a couple of days in each area to really get it.

Anyway, other than that, we had a good stay here.

By the way, "The british are coming, the british are coming" was never actually said back then. Until the revolution that was about to happen, they were ALL British.

Something to think about, however:
  • Hooker's women of the night.
  • Paul Revere had 8 kids till his first wife died, then 8 more with his second.
People clearly had little else to do of an evening back then.

Add that to:
  • Churches of the area had private cubicles, not pews. They say it is to keep warm, but how warm exactly?
  • People using lanterns in church spires to send messages.

So I wonder if the whole "One if by land, two if by sea" was sanitised by historians as well.
The "sea" was actually the river, but sounds more dramatic. The British were occupying Boston, and were planning on crossing over to Lexington.
Perhaps a 'friend' of Pauls actually was sending a message. "One if today, two if tonight".
Just a thought. 16 kids, remember.
