As I said at the beginning, we very nearly cancelled this trip.
Pollution up the wazoo, apparently.
Bollocks!!
Clear skies, no smell, no need for masks.
In fact, there are probably many cities around the world with worse air pollution than we saw. Whoever calls this pollution, has clearly never been to Bangladesh. Now THAT's pollution.
To be honest, we were very surprised. Streets were clean. No rubbish. Very impressive. In Xi'an, and probably other cities, there are trucks spraying water onto the roads overnight. Clean.
Even the driving is better here. In Dhaka, cars trucks and tuk-tuks fill every gap on the road.
A three-laned road there will have vehicles 5-wide. Give way does not translate into their language.
Vehicles here are new and clean. Gone are the tuk-tuks and 2-stroke scooters. Replacing them are electric scooters. Everywhere. They are so far ahead of us when it comes to electric vehicles.
I did notice, however, that the drivers here in Xi'an are a little more reckless than in Beijing. They can't compare to the Formula One Demolition Derby drivers in Dhaka, but they certainly deserve an honourable mention.
